One of the most important factors that make the natural stone an apt building material is its durability. One can understand the fact by examining the floors and walls of the many of the pre-historic monuments, which still remain solid and awesome. Besides this, such stones have a special ability to retain its beauty for time immemorial. It is said that the stone enhances its beauty with polishing, day after day.

Apart from having their own natural shine and beauty, the stone gives the interiors designers to come out with new sort of flooring. With such stones, one can have floors of different textures and designs. Another added advantage that the stone provides is that the floors made out it can be easily maintained. Unlike man-made flooring materials, ,can be easily kept free of satins and dirt. Such stones also do not lose their original feel with regular cleaning.

No artificial tile can match the beauty and quality of floors made out of natural stone. Moreover, it is difficult to come out with such stones just by experiments things in factories, as it takes hundreds of years for such stone to form. It is for this reason, that the stone slabs have become highly demanding building materials. It is not that the popularity of these exquisite stones has increased in the recent times; many of the historic monuments have their floors made out of these stones.

With the advancement in technologies, now-a-days, it has become easier to get natural stone in different textures and cutting designs. In addition to flooring, natural stones can also be used for different purposes such as building worktops, furnishing bathrooms, fireplaces etc. In a sense such stone is a multi-utility building material. These types of stones are also easy to install be it for your room floors or kitchen worktops and proper sealing can give you lifelong complacency.

Basic Stone Massage Supplies and How to Use Them

Article by Chris Turley

Health spas nowadays are fully equipped with technological gadgets that promise the “Zen” feeling you want to achieve. Some offer a water massage therapy session, which subjects you to various intensities of jetting water onto your body. Others give you an oxygen therapy session, which gives you oxygen from digital pumps. This renews the cells and improves blood oxygenation and circulation. There are also spas that offer all kinds of enhanced body wraps-salt wraps, mud wraps, seaweed wraps, fruit wraps-which promise total rejuvenation of the inner and outer body.

Yet most people opt for more laid back and manual therapeutic approaches when it comes to relaxation. They consult their aches and pains in spas that offer healing of the both body and mind. These traditional spas deliver by providing an array of massages that fit the needs of the client. The therapists of these spas are very specialized in what they do and give the client what is necessary to achieve full relaxation.

These spas have various materials, which they fully utilize in performing de-stressing methods. Some use local fruits, oils, needles, stones, and their own hands and feet. The most therapeutic is the one with the hot stone massage kit. Although needles are said to be intensely therapeutic, its invasiveness make people think twice or thrice about having it performed on them.

A stone massage is a combination of the healing properties of the hot stones and the deep tissue work that the therapist provides. Here are some basic stone massage supplies that help you attain total healing and relaxation:

a.) Massage table. This is essential in all types of massages. It is where the client lays down in supine or prone position. This is of just the right height so that it will be easy for the therapist to place the stones properly. It should be properly draped with soft, clean towels before the client comes in.

b.) Towels. The towels should be in contrast with the color of the stones that are used during the massage. This way, the therapist can keep a good eye on the stones while they are being placed and maintained on the body part. They should always be clean and replaced for each new client. Towels make it easy for the therapist to handle the hot stones. They are always within reach for the therapist to use.

c.) Heating pot. Every complete hot stone massage kit has this. The heating pot is the essential part of the stone massage experience because without the heat, how could there be a “hot” stone massage? It is like an ordinary pot of water that heats up stones. It is filled with water up to a half an inch from the brim when the stones are placed. The therapist heats up the stones between 120 and 150 degrees for about 15 to 55 minutes in preparation for the client’s session.

d.) Massage stones. Therapists use these stones to administer massage with heat. They also use these stones to concentrate the massage on trigger points on the client’s body. They usually use basalt stones but there are also marble and chakra stones for more specialized stone massages. The commonly used basalt stones are igneous in origin. They are very smooth and quite strong because they are made up of fine crystals. They also retain heat very well, especially the largest ones.

e.) Ice bath. Massage therapists keep this handy for the immediate cooling down of stones and the client’s skin when the client finds the stones too hot for them to take. This prevents burns and gives immediate relief from too much heat.

f.) Oils. The essential oils make it easy for the therapists to perform basic massage techniques such as petrissage and effleurage. These make the kneading and gliding motion of the hands and stones smoother and more relaxing.

Hot stone massages enable the clients feel more rejuvenated than ever, after each session. Some people even find themselves cured of their ailments after this specialized massage. But there are tricks to each trade. And the ones that comprise the kit, really hit the spot.

Shear Sharpening Repair and Alignment – How to Maintain Them

June 12th, 2011 Filed under: Sharpener by arnasati

A good pair of shears is an essential part of any professional hairstylist’s toolkit. A professional pair of scissors designed specifically for cutting hair can easily cost up to 0. Shears such as these are designed to last a lifetime and can easily cut and trim hair at lightning speed when in the hands of an experienced stylist. Of course, years of hard work can take their toll on any piece of equipment which is why shear sharpening, repair and alignment is so important when it comes to keeping an expensive pair of scissors in top-notch condition at all times.

In order to extend the life of a pair of shears they need to be cleaned properly on a regular basis. A soft towel is the best choice for wiping the blades clean. All moisture, hair, and any other debris should be cleaned by wiping the blades in a direction away from the cutting edge. These blades are extremely sharp so an individual should take great care not to cut themselves when cleaning their scissors. After using the appropriate type of cleaning agent, the shears should be allowed to air dry so that their alignment is not accidentally thrown off.

The best way to prevent the alignment from getting thrown off is to store the shears securely. Most professional cutting shears come with a protective pouch or holster. If they came with a box, that is even better. If the scissors fall on the floor they can easily get knocked out of alignment or dull the blades which can make them ineffective when it comes time to give someone a perfect haircut. An expensive pair of shears should be treated in such a way that does not cause undue damage to them. This will prevent them from needing excessive shear sharpening, repair or alignment.

As with any expensive piece of equipment, proper maintenance is the key to longevity. This may require that the shears be sharpened from time to time. This is a job best left to the professionals. If a pair of shears needs to be repaired because their alignment is off or if they just need to have their edge brought back, it is possible to send them off and have them returned in like new condition in no time at all. Considering the price an individual pays for professional set of shears, it is well worth the extra investment to have them professionally maintained.

Common Tomato Growing Problems and How To Avoid Them

April 29th, 2011 Filed under: Gardening by arnasati

Growing tomatoes is one of the easiest things any aspiring gardener could do but truth be told it is fraught with disappointment and regret when instructions are not followed or when nature conspires to wreck havoc on what had been perceived to be a good a crop.

That’s why the gardener is always under pressure to ensure that they grow  their tomatoes under the most optimal conditions that he/she can muster.

A good away of reducing  tomato growing problems is by planting seedlings as opposed to seeds in your outdoor or indoor garden.

Growing seeds requires way more commitment and dedication.

Seedlings usually have been hardened and so do not get so affected by the environment and weather. But if you opt to plant seeds then later transplant them to your garden of choice, you should plant them indoors for a period of not less than six weeks.

After six weeks or so the seeds should have germinated into seedlings with about six leaves. It is at this point that you can now transplant them outdoors or into a pot. Till your garden well and also regulate the pH of the soil to an acidity level of 5.5 to 7.8.

The soil is preferable if it is fertile and well drained. A good concentration of organic matter in the soil is the best.

Frost is a major problem in tomato growing. Tomatoes can never thrive in cold climate. In some warm areas tomato growing can go on nearly all year round. If you plant tomatoes in the month of April, it will provide you with a good crop of almost all varieties. If you want to have a crop in fall or even winter, you can plant the seedlings somewhere between July and August.

To avoid frost that sets in in December, you are advised to begin planting your tomatoes in June.

In warm climates even on the coldest day it is possible to get the requisite amount of sunlight needed by the plants. Green houses can help people living in cold climates to safely grow tomatoes without fear of losing  the entire crop . Conditions in green houses are usually regulated so that the plants can survive.

Another way of avoiding tomato growing problems is by staggering the harvest. This is dependant upon the area where the tomatoes are planted and also the duration of growing. Tomato gardeners have to wait until soil temperatures reach somewhere between 55 to 60 degrees.

The optimal day temperatures range between 70 to 75 degrees while night ones should be at 65 degrees.

Tomatoes that are planted early in March or May usually ripen at around late July though full produce is realized in early August. Tomatoes are known as sun vegetables since for them to grow and eventually ripen, they need about six full hours of sunlight.

Growing tomatoes is one of the most fulfilling things any gardener can do. Despite a few common problems that you might encounter in your quest for growing your own fresh, juicy, organic tomatoes- with a little planning and a little luck, you’ll come  out a winner in the end.

The Attitude Seed Bank’s brand new promotion running from Friday 5th February to Monday 8th February 2010 with Green House Seed CoATTENTION: The ATTITUDE SEED BANK sells seeds for souvenir purposes, or for storage in case laws change!
