All over the world, God has blessed us with very fertile soil that naturally possesses the potentials without the need for application of any synthesized manure or fertilizer to grow agricultural produce. Sound health and balanced nutrition which are both highly required by human beings are derived purely from farm produce. This shows how important agricultural produce is to human existence. Human beings are not the only living beings that derive sound health and balanced nutrition from Agricultural produce, animals too depend mainly on it directly or indirectly. Some animals feed on green leaves, tubers while some eat fruits and seeds. Man on the other hands feed on animals, fruits, green vegetables seeds etc. Research has shown that majority of the energy, vitamins, nutrients and minerals require by human beings for various essential metabolic processes are obtained cheaply from sufficient intake of these Agricultural produce in freshly form. The irony of it however, is that the rate of consumption of these essential Agricultural produce for sound health and balanced nutrition is geometrically increasing while the rate of production is exponentially declining. Only a few people are now cultivating the land and planting these essential health building and nutritional value-giving crops all in the name of civilization. There is urgent need to strike a balance between the rates of production and consumption of these highly important farm produce in order to prevent possible future food shortages all over the world Government that is at the centre who is expected to focus more on Agriculture is doing contrary by diverting the resources meant for Large scale Agricultural production to other areas that are of little or no significant values to the group of people they are leading. Large scale Agricultural production is a major key to apply in arresting food shortages in any civilized society. Therefore, Government need to initiate, implement, and manage viable projects on large scale Agricultural production in order to arrest food shortages and have surplus food supplies in our society. Incentives/grants should also be made available to any serious minded farmers who might need capital to start farming or for expansion. In addition, efficient food storage mechanism should also be designed and implemented to stock non-perishable food items for future consumption of the citizenries. We cannot blame anyone or the Government for shortages in food supplies and decline in the production of essential farm produce whose consumption give sound health and balance nutritional values. We all need to accept the blame and figure out how to quickly arrest the ugly situation. Majority of people now feed on shafts and junks with little or no nutritional significance. The era of eating fresh Agricultural produce such as vegetables and fruits are gradually vanishing away. It now takes weeks or months before what we refer to as fresh farm produce get to its final destinations where they will be consumed by consumers. Consumers have no other choice than to use their hard earned money to purchase food items which lack the essential nutritional components. Therefore the major solution to this challenge is that everyone must embrace Agriculture and begin to cultivate these essential crops no matter how small it may be even if it is the one to cater for immediate family. It has to start from the family level. Many families built their houses on two or more plots of land with very spacious compounds. Some of these house owners used their compounds to grow grasses and different kinds of flowers. Well, beautiful environment is good, but fresh, sound health building and high nutritional value giving crops/vegetables are better even if it is the little to cater for your own immediate family. In a nut shell, let us begin to convert part of the available land spaces in our compounds to mini vegetable gardens for the benefit of our immediate families in a bid to fight food shortages and poor nutritional intakes. As I said earlier, some of the food items that we purchase nowadays contain little or no nutrients because it took too long before they finally got to the consumers. Regrettably, the average people are worse hit by this problem since they have no extra money to use in purchasing drugs like food supplements which are specially formulated to give necessary energy, vitamins, minerals, nutrients etc to the body. On the other hands, the wealthy people in the society who are enlightened enough can still afford to buy food supplement drugs to supplement their diet. Essential food components which are highly in need by human being are in low supplies to the body systems these days as a result of all the points raised in this document. Therefore, there is need to take good food supplements. Food supplements are very good as they contain essential components that human bodies need for normal growth and development. Food supplement drugs are manufactured from suitable herbs, fruits, seeds etc with the intention to add to the vitamins, energy, nutrients, and minerals etc that we normally obtain from the food we eat which are now in short supplies.
